Elliot Murtaugh is the second to youngest son of Jimmy Murtaugh and late unnamed mother in the second Cheaper by the Dozen film. He is 14 years old. Like his siblings he's athletic and likes to cross on the Sea Doo. It is implied that he can knee-board.
Elliot is a nice and smart adolescent boy. He has smooth bronzed skin, sharp white teeth, spiky dark chocolate hair, and brown almond shaped eyes. Elliot has an upturned nose and a charming smile. He is athletic, confident, and charismatic. How could you get better than him?
Elliot is a wonderful friend who cares deeply for his loved ones. Although he is so sweet, he is able to stand up to those with evil intentions, even his own father. All that his dad (Jimmy Murtaugh) cares about is defeating the Baker family, whom he has had a life-long rivalry with. Elliot is able to look past this family conflict to realize what the right path is, and that is unity. Elliot takes his leap of faith when he leaves his family's canoe during the final competition of the Summer Games to rescue the Baker family. This act of bravery shows just how noble Elliot is.
One of Elliot's shining moments is the way he handles an uncomfortable interaction with Tom Baker. Tom pulls Elliot aside as he is on his way to go wakeboarding with Calvin and Sarah. He approaches the exchange with confidence and swagger. He knows he will be able to win over Tom Baker with his charming allure. Tom starts to ask him a series of questions about himself, which to other teens, may have been intimidating. Elliot shines in this interrogation as he answers every question with poise. As the investigation goes on, Tom's question's increase in difficulty, but Elliot does not back down. Tom leaves this interview confused as he was not able to find anything wrong with Elliot. This proves once again what an outstanding young man Elliot is.
Elliot develops a friendship with Sarah Baker and asks her to the movies.
"I hope you're still on for tomorrow" are his exact words. He gives her a parting gift; a kiss on the cheek. He goes to the movies with her to watch the Ice Age. Their fathers ruin their hang out. It is implied that Elliot has a crush on Sarah.
He rebels against his father and keeps hanging out with Sarah. Elliot thinks that she is cool. When the Bakers
leave after lunch at the Boulders, he says 'bye' to her. Sarah shyly waves back and gets into the car.
Elliot is in the 8th grade and plays the timpani. He is also a honors student and plays football, basketball and likes to skateboard. It is shown that he can do tricks on his board.
When the Murtaughs discuss their tactics for the Labor Day Cup, he waves to Sarah. His father tells him to stop acting all 'nicey-nice'.
He is the second one to jump out of the canoe. He also waits with the rest of the Baker Family & Murtaugh Family while Nora Baker-McNulty is giving birth.
